Gwyn Owen

Overview

Gwyn is the past High Sheriff of Gwynedd. To date he has issued well over 400 awards and decisions relating to adjudication and arbitration and has extensive experience internationally with the FIDIC form of contract, ICC and UNCITRAL Rules. He also lectures, teaches others on behalf of FIDIC on the FIDIC system and presents workshops and seminars throughout the world relating to dispute resolution. He has also presented teaching sessions within the EU in relation to the ISPA funding programme. He has published papers on the DAB system under FIDIC and is co-author of the ICE UK DB Rules. His co-authored book, Dispute Boards Procedures and Practice, is published by Thomas Telford and widely used throughout the world. He has served on the ICC Task Force relating to DB Rules and Procedures.

Gwyn continues to serve on many Dispute Boards throughout the world and is President Listed by FIDIC, having undertaken training and assessment for such listing. He is regularly appointed by the ICC and FIDIC when an institutional or Presidential Nomination is requested. He is a Chartered Arbitrator, Accredited Mediator and an international Adjudicator and has extensive global experience of dispute resolution in many differing jurisdictions and law forms. He also undertakes facilitation and mediation of construction and infrastructure disputes where disputed values have ranged from modest sums to claims in excess of $300M.

Gwyn is the designer and world patent holder of the offshore oil and gas platform Docking and Landing Boom System for hovercraft.
